This fictional hair care brand, Grizzly Hair Care, was created for a student project. As a class, we were all given the same small plain white pump bottle and tasked with creating compelling brands and well crafted physical mockups of a product of our choice. I decided to focus on an environmentally focused hair care brand, and created Grizzly Hair Care, using simple design elements for a print that was light on ink. I experimented with a hand-made bottle jacket of thin cork board, a renewable and recyclable material that feels great in the hand. I printed the design on a nice stock of recycled paper.
I really enjoyed focusing on craftsmanship in this project; it's always rewarding to create something beautiful with my hands and present it well. In a later class, we worked on 3D rendered product design, but my professors were insistent that we learn to create physical mockups and know how to use glue and an x-acto knife, which I'm very glad about.
